HD video on DVD -R disc?

    Is it possible to put 10 minutes of 1920 x 1080 video onto a regular DVD -R?

    My target audience does not have a blu-ray player so I was hoping I could crowbar the short but HD quality video onto a regular DVD.

    Most Bluray players will also down convert the HD signal from a BluRay disc so that it can be viewed on a standard definition television. In this case, of course, the image quality will be the same as any other standard definition signal. To benefit from the high definition signal, an HD television is also required.
