Didn't know what forum to take this on... guess HD vs CRT is close to "Other PC Hardware."

So I'll be been looking at scoring a 360 soon and I was wondering if HD was worth it for games. Does it make a huge difference on the image quality or does it just give the resolution a boost? I've never had problems with my CRT television before. It has always put out acceptable resolutions in all my games and movies. Will better graphics make a difference?

So am I just missing some extra eye candy or is it a life changing experience? My PC won't run Oblivion at max and I heard the 360 version runs it all at max with highest settings and HDR. I think that would be quite a treat to see. But, again, is HD worth the money for a new flat panel?

My opinion, yes, worth it but, not well worth it. There is a big noticable difference for the eyes between HD and SD, especially for games!

The downfall to HD is the price, as your asking. You could probably find a good deal somewhere on HD TV. Just have to compromise with the size. How big of screen are you looking for?

How big a difference is there... are we talking like life changing different or just easier on the eyes? I'd like to avoid getting a new television if it won't ruin or seriously hamper my gaming experience.

It's really not a problem in price. Just the fact that I don't want to have to get a new television when the one I have works fine.

Life changing, lol, no. But, more than eaiser on the eyes. Not having HD won't ruin your playing experience, it will just enhance it.

Try these two steps to see the difference:

-Go to BestBuy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart or any other place that sells and displays HD and SD TV's. Look at their displays, you'll see the difference. Only thing is, if the screen is bigger than 42" make sure you are about 10-12 feet away to really see the resolution change.

-Imagine taking out all the small static in your TV, imagine the quality. Remember when DVD came out? Remember how much clearer they were than a VHS? Watch a VHS and then, right after, insert a DVD. That is about how much difference there is between SD and HD.

And by the way, you don't have to buy a new TV just for HD, you can buy the HD adapter for your TV.

Well, if it's possible to get an adapter and do HD on a CRT I'm all for it. I have a beautiful 30 inch CRT built into a solid oak cabinet and I've had it for 6 years since my parents got it for me for X-mas.

It's a much better quality TV than many I have seen and I feel it would be a shame to have to get a new TV.

So you say I can view an emulated HD image with an adapter? Do tell. I know(I think) that the Xbox 360 just has regular S-Video out doesn't it? So with the adapter I can use the HD signal out on the Xbox 360 and plug it into my TV?
