I have a 19" tft monitor and a 19" HDTV both with DVI input. My graphics card is a HD 3870. I have just set my moniter up via DVI and al is good. When i connect the other dvi cable to my lcd TV but it doesn't work. It works while windows (vista) is at post screens but as soon as it comes to the logon; the display goes blank? I have tried all settings and resoultions in ATI CCC: clone/swap/extend display/force tv ...but nothing is working? I have also updated to the latest version of CCC but still no luck. It works fine with VGA but I bought a 10m DVI cable especially for this setup. Any Ideas? (I'm waiting for my HD4870 to turn up any day now, can i expect the same problem with this card?)
make sure that the resolution on the tv output is set correctly otheriwse it won't display as it'll be out of range.
I have tried all ranges of resoltions with no luck. It displays 1440x900 fine via vga but i'm getting nothing through dvi?
This is a known issue with some tft monitors and ATI adapters usually in Vista. You will see the BIOS and the green progress bar when Vista boots but as soon as the video driver is loaded the screen goes blank. This problem only appears after you install the drivers. If you're using XP you can try disabling the EDID using the check box under the monitor and that some times solves the problem. If you wish some confirmation that you are having the same issue; try uninstalling the display adapter driver or starting in safe mode. The display will then likely work through the DVI output. This is of course by no means a viable solution. If anyone out there has any tools to find out what exactly is going on when the driver and adapter blank the screen I would be greatly interested. Apparently ATI is clueless as to what's going on and this has been an issue effecting a great number of users. I for one would like to get to the bottom of it if they're not going to continue to try and solve it.
