    Hi,

I am using my softmodded xbox for years now purly for XBMC. I have not modded it myself, don't know how it was done and frankly don't care. Now my HDD crashed. I have replaced it with a new one and thought it would be a piece of cake to install a new dashboard using "SlaYers_EvoX_Auto-Installer_2.7FINAL.iso" and booting the xbox from DVD.

Well, I have tried 3 types of DVD's several times and the xbox won't boot. Now I'm starting to panic. On powerup, the xbox shows the xbox splashsequence (you know with the sound and logo) And then it gives the screen about me contacting the manufacturer in alot of different languages. So it won't boot!!

    My questions are:
    1) Does the xbox not boot from the DVD because should I just try other types of media like CD-RW?
    2) Does it not boot because i'm f***ed
    3) Are there any generic xbox HDD images available so I don't need to use cd's and dvd's and stuff? I hate cd's and dvd's.
    4) What are my chances of getting XBMC up and running today?

    Thanks for your help.

well, a couple of things to ask first, before i can help.
    1. how did your hard drive crash?
    2. when the hard drive is plugged into the xbox and turned on, what error do you get? (i might be able to help you recover the old drive)
    3. did you save your EEPROM on your computer (it would either be a txt file or a file called eeprom.bin)
-if not, did the person who softmodded it have a copy of your eeprom?
    4. did you do anything to the new hard drive before you put it in the xbox?
If you can answer these, i can help you recover your xbox.
