I already have broadband internet that comes with basic cable. I do not want to pay the extra monthly fee associated with getting a DVR system, but I still want to record my TV shows and watch at a later time... I have read about the MAGNAVOX MDR513H/F7 HDD and DVD Recorder with Digital Tuner and am wondering if anyone else uses this system? or is it possible to use this with cable and stop paying the monthly fees???

I have the Magnavox 2160 and it works great! Works very similar to a VCR - except that it writes to a HDD - meaning you have to enter in a day and time (no slick TV guide for me).

For me, I have regular cable... no cable boxes, no satellite convertor boxes, nothing... just a coxial cable coming in through the wall.

For this type of setup, this Magnavox works great! And no monthly fees!
