I have a SATA HDD and an IDE HDD. When the pc starts up not it takes longer than usual or else an error comes up on the screen just after POST saying that "there is no boot media". When I check the bios sometime the information about the SATA hard drive is not there, and therefor I know t cant boot. I have to turn the pc off and unplug the SATA and replug it and sometimes this fixes the booting up. Also when the pc restarts it automatically run CHKDSK on one or both of the drives and comes up with all sorts of error. The drive in question still has a few months left on waranty and I would like a solution before that runs out.

    What would you suggest?

moved to correct forum as not a windows issue. change the sata cable & try another sata port.

It might just be the cable...do you have another cable to test?

Along with what KillerBug suggested, you can download your harddrive manufacture's free harddrive diagnostic utility off of their website. Run the tests.
