yeah, that's normal. With this version of harddisk loader there is a maximum of 120 gig.

HDLoader is recommended with drives between 40GB and 120GB.

If you have a larger drive installed, it will only read up to 120GB.

My advice, would be to save money and just get the 120GB drive. Unless you don't care about having that extra space go to waste.

I was wondering the same thing because my maxtor 120 gb says i only have like 114gb total and 110gb free space with no games loaded on it yet. Hopefully someone can clear this up.

this is normal for all hard drives including pc hard drives like if you have a dvd burner you will see that if you buy a 4.7 gb dvd its only goning to be 4.38 most times or my hard drive i have a 300gb maxtor drive in my computer with an 160gb hard dive also the maxtor had only 288gb of space 160gb hard drive only had 152gb of space in other words it depends on the manufacturing quality but the thing is they are buitlt by machines on an assembly line so the machines don;t care so what can you do.

Actually, A 60Gig Hd is exactly that if not more then 60Gig. The problem with having a lower HD space on the dirve is the system you use more spec. the OS your using uses part of the hd as DEDICATED space for the OS to run. You can actually format with commands to have the full use of your slave drive but you will never get the max out of the drive your os is on unlsee you remove the os and use that as your slave drive.

The dedicated space on the OS HD is the virtual memory, which you can alway change or remove (Not recommended until you know what your are really doing). I have never seen a hard drive having more space on it than what the manufactures says.

KainX2 is completed right when for the HD space you see. This is because when you break down a hard drive space, it does not 1K does not equall 1,000 bytes. It 1024 bytes.

what9612, That's normal, the PS2 only supports up to 127 gig. It's a limitation of the ATA interface spec, the PS2 IDE interface doesn't support 48bit LBA addressing so it can only see the first 127g. For a long explanation see:
    http://www.dewassoc.com/kbase/hard_drives/hard_drive_size_barriers.htm

deviljace, what you see is also normal. Hard drive manucturers call 1000 bytes a kilobyte, not 1024 as everyone else in the industry. So a 120g drive actually only has about 111g measured that way. I read that there is a class action suit against one manufacturer for misrepresentation and the confusing numbering system.
