Easy. There is a problem with Windows XP where it won't detect HDD sizes over 137GB. Google it and there is a patch you can install.

    Hello ddp
I would realy like an answer on this if you have time.
    I have 2 sata hard drives a 120 and a 250
The 120 was the oridginal and has the os xp pro on it, with no partitions. I put the 250 in and i read it is best to partition it, so i did with 4 primary partitions. Now i have read that you should only have one primary and the rest should be logical drives.
Can you tell me what the differance is and why they should be logical and not all primary. I have googled this 100 times and all i find is how to partition and not why. I can change the 250 to anything no big deal, there is not much on it yet,
    Thank you

Beacuse with primary it's the drive you mainly just autosave to while you can have the others as logicals to use whenever, I have my HDD partitioned so All my dowloads go to a 100GB partition and all the rest(games, programs) go onto the 133 or so that are there.

    It helps me keep organized.

donewell, the primary is the main partition with the logical being secondary. can't have 4 primaries on 1 drive as you have 1 primary & 3 logical partitions. your 120 gig is partitioned as 1 as all drives have to be partitioned with 1 or more partitins before it can be formated.
