I make the ISO and the disk perfectly. I go right into the backup folder and put it directly into the EEPROM folder in the linux folder. I burn the ISO perfectly no errors or problems what so ever.i recreate the HDD flawlessly and then goto generate the HDD key

ERROR! EEPROM unable to be opened results put in HDDKEY.TXT

i think ok maybe that wasnt it...

I reeboot and type 3 to goto the locking tools

    i type lockhd -a

ERROR Pawword file not fount! ABORTING!
    (fount spelld correctly)

Anyone know whats going on here??? I am gonna backup the eeprom again to see if that works but other then that idk what to do.....

    Apologies for double post!

OK when i i attempted to retry this i did it twice once was with the eeprom in the backup folder second time was with the eeprom backup renamed to eeprom.bin.

When i did this the same thing happened. but this time i did look at the backup.txt file and it read perfectly...i heard not to use any of that to lock the HDD and i have heard to use it. Something is just not going as it should with this process. Anybody know what it is?????

I kind of had this same problem. Assuming that you are making a HD upgrade what I did using the softmod I had (UnleashX) and installed Chimp.

    Open Xbox.
    Loosen DVD drive IDE.
    Load up dash.
    Go to Applications > Chimp.
Take out DVD drive IDE completly and insert new unlocked HD with external power source (ie. computer).
Once done, select scan for hardware changes.
Make sure both are identified as hda and hdb. 'hda' is your master IDE and 'hdb' is your slave.
If both recognised go to option 3.
    Select to lock from motherboard.
Reconnect DVD drive and turn off power.
Insert new HD as master replacing original.
Boot up with your new xbox HD!

Hope this helps as it did for me :)

the problem is not part of the xbox it is within the eeprom.bin i thought about an unsoftmod and resoftmod but it asks about having a new MSdash i was wondering if i had to have a disk to do this or if i just could undo and not have any fear of messing anything up...

Are you upgrading your HD to a bigger one rather than your retail 8/10GB or just rebuilding/formatting your retail HD?

Uping my HDD. I have the 80gig seagate and it is lockable i know. I dont understand what is going wrong with it. The ISO is perfect and i follow every bit of the instructions. BTW using Evox and HDUn/lock tools with the linux.

Follow the instructions that I posted. I had that same problem. eeprom.bin contained wrong info for locking the HD.

I used the chimp way of doing it straight from the motherboard. So as long as you have built your partitions in XboxHDM and then copied a dash to it, just lock it using the guide I posted above.

Same way I went for my 400GB one.

I believe I used 2.4 if not 2.6 dont think theres much difference. Got it from AID 4.0. Boot up to Chimp with the DVD IDE cable loosened so its easier to remove while hot. Then once booted into Chimp swap them but use another power source for the new HD (ie. computer). All in my post above.

i am currently trying this again with another eeprom i found rooting around in another folder...has my bios and every thing in with it so it looks promising

EDIT: this was to no adue...still same problem. I dont want to use the chim program due to my delima with my computer setup. getting my computer back into the spot is very difficult i have a removable HDD system on my computer works the same way as any other does but removable lol.

If you live near radioshack you can get a molex power splitter for around $5 I believe. But im in Ireland where there are none :D

It was the easiest and quickest option for me, if you do it.. Touch some metal beforehand so you do not get a shock whule switching cables.

    Be careful, n00bH4X0R.
