hdd running slow

    i have a 120g hdd running windows set to master and i have a 320g hdd set to slave for my storage. when i load files say a movie on the 120 master drive it takes about 12-14 min when i try to do it with the larger 320 it takes about 50-90 for the same movie that took 14 min or so. does anyone know whats wrong?

    see if the dma is enabled in the ide controllers properties.

    how do i figure that out and what is dma and what will it do if i turn it on/off?

    goto control panel\system\device manager\ide controller than do properties on it. look to see if dma is enabled which you want not pio. dma is direct memory access

    i dont see dma or pio anywhere when i look in properties of the hdd ide controller properties

    well i never found those settings but i went into set up and found out thet that hard drive was set to off so i changed it to auto and it works great now
