    Hello everyone,

My original Xbox just got fried, i.e. it will not power on whatsoever, and I am trying to switch the harddrive out with my brother's old Xbox.

So far i've swapped the hard drives in each Xbox, but unfortunately my brother's old Xbox is not liking the hard drive from my fried Xbox whatsoever. It's giving me Error Code #06 every time I power it on. From what I've read online my old hard drive is locked to my old Xbox's system board and I need a mod chip in order to bypass the lock.

Anyways, I was wondering if there is any possible way to unlock the hard drive from my fried Xbox so I can successfuly use it in my brother's old box.

    Thanks,
    Sancho

the only way i have seen a hd unlocked is through a modchip...however there may be a way to do some sort of hotswap with your pc.

dude don't hot swap the hard drive. if you do you will probably dammage the hard drive and your computer. the only way to hot swap a hard drive is with a computer and a hard drive that is made to do it.
im not an xbox expert by any means. but the only way i know how to lock and unlock a hard drive is with a mod chip. if you unlock it then install it you need a modchip to lock it again in the new xbox.
if you don't you will get another error stating the hard drive is not locked don't know the error code.
