Please help me with my confusion. Current cable setup: COAX cable from the wall to my HDTV cable box. (line in coax) HDMI out frmo the cablebox to HDMI line in on back of TV. Is the correct method? The part I'm confused on is.... The past I used to hook up the coax wall jack to the back of the TV. Then from the TV's attena coax jack to the cable box line in. That wood take care of the VIDEO and audio. Now HDMI has both of that in one cable, how does the TV know which one to take? HDMI quality or COAX quality. How should I hook it up... directly from the wall to the tv the cable box or like the way I have it now? Please explain my options and why. BTW... I'm sure this has something to do with it.... on my TV inputs I do see HDMI1 as my cable box, but when I hook up the HDMI as well as running anoter coax going back to the TV's attena i also see a crappier version of the cable when going to input mode TV AIR. I only see TV AIR, when I go back from the attenna to attena.
It [bold]should[/bold] run the cable's coax from the wall plate, to the cable box. Then the HDMI, out from cable box, to the tv. You need to go through the cable box first, to get the HD channels, and any premium channels (HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc.), you may subscribe to. If it's not working that way, you may need to access the cable box setup menus, and enable HDMI output. Cable installers aren't the smartest people, at hooking up their own equipment! There are threads about this, at Home Theater forums, where the cable guys hooked their stuff up totally wrong....... Good luck!
