I have a HD Samsung HLR5667W 55". My cable provider is Directv and I am getting my HD box and hd satellite this week. They told me that I will be getting a HDMI cable, but my question is: Do I need an additional HDMI for anything eelse? Also what do I need for my DVD player for the connection to my t.v.? Thanks!

Since your set only has one HDMI input use it with your HD satalight box. HDMI carries audio and video. Connect you DVD player with Component video if possible. If not use S-Video.

Real quick one last question. What do I need as far as cables to have the a nice Home theater? I have my yamaha receiver, bose center and 301 front speakers, polk audio subwoofer. On my receiver I have digital optical dt/cable output. Do I need to get a digital optical cable also? Do you know a somewhere besides Best Buy and Circuit City that can do installs for a reasonable price? I most likely will need wires to go through my walls. Thanks!

To have a digital home theater system you must connect it using digital connections! Digital optical cable gives you surround sound. to maximize your experience you want to upgrade your speaker wires and sub woofer cable. Don't use supplied or in the box cables as they are of poor quality (including the HDMI cable you will get with the satallight box). Don't be afraid to buy high quality interconnects. I'm not saying you should pay 100dreds of dollors for cables. I'm just asking that you consider it as they will improve your systems proformance.

Also, don't forget about surge protection. I don't mean cappy $5 power strips I mean clean power filters like those by Monster, Acoustic Reasearch, and Belkin.

Does it matter what type of HDMI cable O should get? I saw one on ebay for $6, it looks exactly like the monster HDMI cables.

You get what you pay for! But, if you can get a high quality cable for $6 go for it.
