I have a Nvidia Geoforce 9500 GT graphics card {"Sparkle") with a DVI to HDMI connector supplied with the card.I have been using S-VHS for viewing my PC on my Haier L 32 K LCD TV.I have now connected a HDMI cable.When I select the HDMI input on the TV a "beeping" sound is made on the PC.But no display.Now maybe I am not clear on HDMI use.I have tried to playback the HD version of "Top Gears" Xmas special. Can the HDMI cable be used to view any picture from the PC or only digital format videos?Do I have to "force-detection"?
iNSTALLED THE LATEST nVIDIA DRIVER CONTROL PANEL FOR WINDOWS 7.iT HAS THE OPTION TO SELECT "HDMI" AS THE MAIN TV INPUT. I HAD GOT SO USED TO S-VHS BEEING AUTOMATICALLY DETECTED WITHOUT A CONTROL PANEL SELECTED THAT I HAD FORGOTTEN HOW USEFUL IT CAN BE FOR MORE ADVANCED SETTINGS. One stting that is difficult to find or install correctly, is the function to play a movie on the TV whist carrying on with the PC .I know how to set up and number or identify the 2 screens I am using,and selecting the PC as primary, but all it shows on the tv is the desktop picture on the tv. I did it once on XP but blowed if I can remeber exactly how. For what bits worth, there is a marked improvement in picture qulity when played over the HDMI cable.Well worth the price plus a small carpet to run the cable under. I had already run 2 audio video cables around the room with small bore plastic trunking, I took the "soft" option for the larget HDMI cable. Great watching the "Top Gear" Xmas special whilst living in Eilat (Israel's southern most seaport and most northern coral reef} But didn't get round to do my Xmas day dive.Had to answer a breakdown call on Dolphin Reef's main walkin cold room.
