I recently purchased a "HDMI Male to VGA HD-15 Male Cable". I was hoping to use the HDMI output on my laptop and connect the vga input to my LCD display. This however does not seem to work.

Below is a link describing the item I purchased?

Is this item a complete joke? After researching the internet I have come to the conclusion this cable is only made to trick people and doesnt actually do anything. What do you all think?

    Thanks,

    C

By any chance did you read the technical description for this part????

"This HDMI to VGA HD15 (Male) connects your HDMI-equipped device, HDTV (NOT FROM COMPUTER OR LAPTOP) to your monitor. The HDMI-equipped devices include high-definition DVD player, HDTV receiver, projector, A/V receiver, Playstation system. The cable supports high-definition resolutions up to 1080p, provides the highest quality picture and clear sound. "

This states specifically (twice even) that this cable will not do what you had intended.

VGA to HDMI cables only works sometimes...it depends on your hardware and software. You can likely purchase one locally at www.aticables.com for testingor just ask them if it will work with your equipment.
