hdtv & digital tv querys

    i wanna buy a new tv (only wanna spend about £500 tops )
    but whats the score with regards to hdtv in the uk ?
    if i but a tv now will it be obsolite in a year or two ?
    & whats the score about digital tv in the next few years
    do i need to buy a hd ready tv?

    only looking at a 30inch sony or something

    Make sure you buy one with hdmi input, or you won't be able to watch hd-movies in high definition. Hd ready tv would be the best (hd ready sertificate means that the tv has native resolution of at least 1080i), since hdtv-broadcasts and hd-dvd/bluray discs are at 1080i resolution.
