I purchased my TV for the HD capability. After getting the appropriate HD DVR from time warner, I was surprised to find out that the HDMI/DVI able hook ups were inactive and did not work. So I am basically stuck with their low end crap HD cables. I have called endlessly asking TW when I could expect to get the full HD cable service I am paying for so that I could use my High Dollar DVI cable and they state that it won't make a difference in my picture quality. So my question to all who care is what is the difference between low end cables, Monster cables, and DVI when talking picture quality. I am not happy with my HD picture and am pissed at the fact that I don't have DVI ability, that every one almost unanimously has agreed is why my picture seems to be somewhat less than expected. Will monster cables dramatically improve my HD picture as some say to a noticeable level, or am I stuck waiting for time warner to get thier DVI act together. I don't want to go pay for a set of 70-90$ monster cables from Best Buy when I already purchased the DVI cable from them on the promise of the best picture quality on to find out that TW is Negligent in their HD ability. Any body care to feed back on this topic I would greatly appreciate.

hey maybe i will have an answer for you, its true its not much diference between dvi and monster cables, just was a way to make money and its no diference between the monsters cable form best buy and the cables hd cables from them, so let me show how the things work, they give hd cables for hooking up the box for free, looking exactly the same as monsters cables from best buy, but best buy call them monsters cables to like makeing and advertising so you pay money for those thinking you will have a monster picture on tv, when you get them for free from the cable company, plus the cble company try to make some money too, they use the new features like routering for internet and dvi cables for tv, network cards, network adaptors, everything its just about makeing money; and one word for you you was RIPEED OFF from the best buy first and then from your local cable company, and by the way if you was paying attention you had a dvi cable on your tv box when you bought, if you bought the tv brand new, and how do i know such things? i worked for comcast and for At&t broadband for 5 years... So again you got scammed, lol

yes but there are options on my JVC I-ART TV that I cannot get into unless my HDMI/ DVI cable is in use, or at least I am getting the signal from Time Warner. So I'm stuck in the mud with half of my TV options not able to be acsessed.

    Quality:
HDMI cables have notorious issues with lengths (especially at high resolutions); There is many factors which a HDMI cable must fulfill to have a good quality: resolution handling, gold plated connectors, conductor type, insulation type, etc.

    What you need:
Unless you have a digital TV set you do not need HDMI or DVI cables. HD LCD and HD plasma TVs are analog and you should have perfect picture with a component video cable.
