I installed my headset a while back and I remember it didn't work. The Speakers worked fine and I could hear, but I cannot record anything, so I'm wondering if there's any way to re-install or something along those lines?

PS: Sorry if this is in the wrong section :(

When you say you cant record anything do you mean sound produced by the pc (i.e. in game music & sounds, music played on websites like youtube etc) or do you mean sound from the headset?

If it's from the headset and you dont know if your headset is working correctly, check its connected correctly and check the settings in windows (start > run > sndvol32) and check the microphone input level is set correctly (if it isn't shown options > properties) and check the tick boxes to show the microphone input and adjust the levels.

Then open sound recorder (Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound Recorder) and check that you can record from the mic.

If it isnt working duff mic.

If you cant record sound from your pc that is produced by the PC, I suggest downloading this program on a trial basis. I only reccomend this program because its the only one I know that will allow you to record sounds produced by the pc. You may already know of one, but unfortunately I don't!

If neither work then its definately a duff mic. Sorry If I have given solutions to problems you dont have, but that is all I can gather from your post.

Sorry about that, should've been a little more descriptive. Anyways, back when I installed it (A window came up when it popped up, i didn't finish installing it, so the headset couldn't record when I spoke into it), I didn't install it right. So I'm just wondering if there is any way to get that window to come up again so I can finish installing it? If you still don't get it I can try to rephrase it lol

As far as I am aware, windows accesses your mic through your soundcard drivers and requires nothing more.

Have you tried the steps i described before where I suggest going into sound recorder and seeing if you can record anything from the mic?

Does the headset connect to the PC via the headphone / mic sockets or is it connected via USB or other port?

I tried using the Sound Recorder program and when I played it there was no sound. I tried what you said. It uses the standard mic sockets (green+pink).
