I am from Canada and just recently got cable internet (from DSL). I can download from a site (games etc) at like 600kb per scond an up, but can't download a movie or music any more then 300kb per second. I use EMule, Sharezza, Ares and BitComet. I have a HP 310n with 1.1ghz, 120gd hd, 384 rm, and plextor dvd burner (712a). Any help is greatly thanked
Hi Canuck, I just downloaded (from Nero) at ~300KBs. This speed converts to ~2.4Mbs (2400Kbs). You must be careful to describe either 'bits' (small-b) or 'bytes' (capital-B). 8 bits = 1 byte. I am not sure exactly what you are saying... If you are getting 600KBs (.6MBs) then this is very fast speed! Sympatico highspeed is 3Mbs which gives ~375KBs. Sympatico Ultra-highspeed offers theoretically 5Mbs (which is ~625KBs) but in reality, it is no faster. The WWW is slow! You can download only as fast as they will send it to you and the packets can fight their way through network congestion to you. Sounds like you have a very fast theoretical connection, but rarely find a site that can deliver at those speeds... So don't worry - it is normal! Be happy :^)
