    Trying to burn movie currently held in My Documents on to DVD-R using demo version of Nero 6. Seems to go through burning process ok and can play back DVD on my PC but when I go to play it in my stand-alone DVD player (PAL) all I get is "incorrect disc format". Any body understand what I'm doing wrong? Thx

    Is it possible your video files were NTSC format and your stand-alone player only plays PAL format? Just guessing for now.

    could also just be poor quality media. Try a few other movies with those discs and see if they come out better. Also try the problem movie on other players to see what it does in them.

    What burn speed are you using? Try to keep it 4x or less for good results.

    Have you burned the movie into a folder called VIDEO_TS (in capitals) or just burned the seperate files?

    my guess is your dvd player doesn't support ntsc as ladyboy mentioned before. what I do is rip the movie to my hdd first and then convert it to the proper format before reauthoring.

    if thats the case,next time force the files into PAL,(25 fps),as mentioned
    it could just be the player doesnt like the disk's you are using,try changing the book-type to dvd-rom,someone has mentioned this can be done with dvd-r also,not 100% on that score

    yup discs not comaptible with standalone player or wrong format ie: pal / ntsc.

    @guntonspl, let's try something -

    download Nero info-tool from here - http://www.snapfiles.com/get/neroinfo.html

    Run it, note down the following, and paste here. Here's what mine shows -

    click on the drive tab, note down the firmware version
    [IMG]

    click on configuration tab, note down the DMA fields, ie on or off

    it may be worth clicking on the aspi tab, and note down anything that might be missing

    it's just worth checking a few basics and going from there....
