help and advise cd dvd drive

    hi.. I'm wondering if anyone can help me with my laptop, as i know nothing about them.
    The problem is my Cd Dvd rom drive seems to be broke i insert a Dvd disk and it goes to load up then starts making like a loud whirring grinding noise sometimes it worked but i think its completely stopped now, can anyone point me in the right direction of if or how this can be fixed... thank-you..

    try cleaning the laser lens. does it do this on both original & copied disks?

    light duty drives.. usually they have just died.

    Thank you for your reply's i cleaned the lens and touch wood for now... Its working!! Also its not as loud as it was, it just sounds like it needs oiling now! it seemed not to reconise dvd rw when i was burning them..
