i am just about as clueless as you can be on backing up your hard drive to your computer how do you do it?
Well you can clone your hdd to another. That way if the hdd you're using now dies you can take it out, put the cloned drive in and keep going only losing what wasn't saved since your last backup. Acronis is a good tool for that. You can download the program but it's only a trial version. The trial version is long enough to use it a few times for your needs. http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/features-cloning.html?ad=A03010305 Also, here is another link that goes a lot more in detail about cloning and how to: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=418&page=2
Also, you could install a "softmod" FTP; the "C" and "E" the softmod, I advice using a installer cause it does a back-up with EVoX take the info, like "HDD" print it out and stick on the harddrive. Incase you completely loose everything, you can restore it with the info you have.. I use "xbhdm" make iso disc with "C" and "E" for all my xbox's, with the HDD key taped to the HDD just incase..
