I have a version 4 PS2 with magic 3.1. I use good dvd brand media from the store because all my other dvd based ps2 game work fine without skipping. I backuped thegeteway with record now dx and it said copied successfully. When I put in the PS2 the Playstation2 logo pops up then it just stays black. please help. thanks?
what type of media did you use? because i have a v4 as well and v4's most of the time have problems with [bold]dvd+r[/bold]'s. if you havent already, make sure you backup your games with [bold]dvd-r[/bold]'s. other than that im not sure buddy
I backed up the Getaway yesterday. I used Verbatim Dvd+r and Recordnow software. My Ps2 is version 4 also. Plays great.
Heres what happened a friend of my Uncles professionally installed a magic 3.1 and he bought a new sony shipped laser. So I don't think its the laser because I successfully have back ups of Kingdom hearts and enter the matrix they work perfect with no skipping. I use dvd-r (smartdisk). ???
Oh and the guy adjusted the laser to give it more power because he said that version 4's just need a little more power to read blank media. so he did that so my laser isn't weak.
Is the Getaway a double check game because he did replace the mother board but i still think it is version 4.

I burned it at 1x with a pioneer dvr 104 and I used that to make an image to a hard drive then i burned it.
pas2mania, where did you get your laser readjusted to make it more powerful? i have a standard v4 ps2 as well and i want to get it tweaked. where can you get them adjusted? im unsure
I'm unsure because i got my modchip installed by someone that lives by me and he tweaked the laser too.
