I have spent 3 days (and yes I stay up really, really late/ early with my not-sleeping-through-the-nite-yet newborn to read, too) trying to figure out how to burn some movies that I downloaded. I've googled, read and wasted about 20 CD-Rs and DVD-Rs trying to get this, and still can't view these movies. I have read the "read before commenting" posts, and am praying the moderators take pitty on me and don't boot me off for asking likely the same questions that have been presented here before. Someone, please help, we're up all night (just me and my new lil girl, Sofie) and would like to watch some movies while we rock the nite away in the glider. Heres the problem:

I have several files, all in WinRar right now, which I understand is already an archiver, I downloaded the trial software and have been able to unzip, but don't know what the next step is. The files are in avi it looks like when upzipped, the files in the download say CD1, CD2, Sample, Subs, and P-lofd (I think the movie files are just on the CD 1&2 since these have all the lil files in the folder). I read a very helpful bit of previous posts from Gwendolyn & Alchol, which helped me to burn files aleady packaged in the nice lil format w/o the numerous folders with Nero 7, Nero Vision, I was able to burn a few movies using their method, but can't burn these remaining few that are zipped/ archived. I love those step by step guides for idiots that really takes me by the hand to walk me through the process, but can't figure out where I need to start, I saw some stuff that says I need to convert, then read some things that say I don't need to convert.... ahhhh, going on two weeks of being home w/ my insominac lil girl and looking for relief, I have a Divx player, and I thought I was supposed to burn the files as a data CD, tried, failed, what do I need to do to make this work?? Thanks so much for reading this!!!

You found someone to take you by the hand.
First off, take the downloaded file (i have to say this is illegal and WE risk being banned for this!) and then right-click on it. Scroll down to where it says properties. If next to "Data Type" it says "WinRar Archive", then what you do is open it with WinRar and extract it to anywhere such as the desktop. If you are not sure on which file to extract, its the one with an icon something like this one >>>[IMG]. Once the extraction is finished, check the size of the video files. The most common video format for movies is AVI. The size of the movie HAS to be under 680 MB to fit on a CD. Depending on the lenth of the movie, if it is more than 80 minutes, you won't be able to use a CD too. In this case what you want to do is get your hands on some black DVD's and a DVD burner. Just for advise, VERBATIN DVD-R are what i would recommend. They are highest quality and long life. Once you have taken care of the size issue, open your CD/DVD burning software. There are lots such as NERO, Roxio, etc...If you are using nero and you are burning a CD (keep in mind is said CD) then select the "create video CD", or "create super video CD". Once you've done that it will ask you for the file, when you will find and select using the explorer. From there the steps to the burning are quite self explanitory. Now, if the files is too large and you need a DVD, the Open Nero or and burning application and select "create dvd". Unless you have nero ultra, you will require a codec called MPEG-4 codec. It is about $24 bucks on nero.com, but you can get one at www.isohunt.com. Just type in MPEG nero, and search. Download the torrent file and do the same you did to get your movie. Once all of that is taken care of, just burn it as a DVD and NERO will convert it while burning so it WILL play on any DVD GARANTEED.

Thank you so much for your reply!!! I for sure don't want to get you in trouble, you can email me at my personal if that is better @ [edited by lethal]...

A few questions: there are many files under CD1 & CD2 that are winrar, do I extract them all, just the first one? And them put them to the desktop and do I burn both files from CD1 & CD2? Just one of the files, this is where I am having problems. I do have Nero Ultra 7, so I can use the DVD-R, it seems many of the files have been too large, but how do I organize the files to burn, CD1 & CD2 files in that order, just the first file of each? Thanks again for your assistance!

You catch on fast. What you do is extract only ONE of them in each file. It can be ANY file as long as its in the same folder. This will autoextract all the other ones in the folder. (It a nice feature if you use WinRAR)Since the uploader separated the files, i would do so too and burn them on separate media.
