Hi guys. The situation is quite complicate. I softmodded my friend's xbox a few weeks ago, and now he did something he didn't know what it would do to his xbox and now we have a problem. The problem is no matter what you do you get the message "Xbox Live can't connect. Please try again later". We can't even boot a game, there's nothing we can do. WHat he did is pluging his xbox by ftp to his computer and tried X-Link to play online, but he didn't change the ftp settings, and his computer didn't have internet ... Most important, he also did a MS Dashboard Restore. If someone can help me to figure that out, it would be appreciated. Thanks!
i have the same problem. i have never been on xbox live it now won't load any games or bring me into the machine at all. just says trying live update.. and nothing else i can do.. please help
try this unplug it for 5 hours and then it will go to the time thing then it should be fully reseted. now try the on your own risk cause if u get an error then you are screwed. so if u r getting error nu mbers dont do what i just said
Did you happen to back up his "eeprom"? This file will allow you to restore the drive no matter how bad it's screwed up. If you don't have it, you can try "hotswapping". Look up a guide, since you are not getting a numbered error message you should be able to hotswap.
it won't let me do anything at all though... does that make sense.. all help is appreciated. thanks again
It sounds like some files from the original msdash are missing. If your system gets past the black Xbox logo/Microsoft screen than you are in luck. If you are unable to rerun the game to softmod again then the only thing left to do is either buy a chip or "hotswap". If you get past the Microsoft screen than that means your hard drive is being unlocked and the files are now accessable. Hotswapping is basically unplugging the IDE cable from the xbox and plugging it into your computer. Obviously this is a delicate procedure and many other steps, but this may be your only option without having to pay $50 for a chip, which I'm not even sure would help in your situation. It's completely safe if done correctly and I've done this to several xbox's. If you would like to find out more about this I'd be glad to help.
did you try what i siad by unplugin it for 5hours. it would forct it self to a different screen. or CauseLs said try a hot swap. but first i would try to unplug it for 5 hours. cuase if that works than you dont have to hot swap. but if it doesn't than that is the last thing to do.
yup.. i had it unplugged for days now, and same thing.. no luck. will try the "hotswapping" but not sure how to do it.. will be trying again today.
