i know there is loads on here but to be honest it over my head, all these figures ip's etc...

I have a linksys 54gx2 router with my pc connected wirelessly. I have pluged the xbox into the router but the pc cannot see the xbox.

xbox has Evolution X & Avalaunch Dashboard, if that helps.

just want to add, i have got a little further, if i type in ftp://xbox@192.168.1.102/ in the address bar of firefox i can see the folders on the xbox.

just need to know how i can see the folders within windows so i can move files arround.

Oh and when i go into the dashboard (green xobox one) and click connect it will connect to xbox live (me thinks its that)

sorry, been helpin people all day lol

Anyway go to the start menu, go to run type in "ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.1.102/" that should be your ip address from before. it will open in internet explorer or your default browser.

For ie7 go to the page tab in the right top corner and select "open ftp site in windows explorer"

    Should look like this

I think your problem is that you're not typing the user name and password. the code is

    Ftp://user:password@ip address

Good luck, if this doesn't work go into settings then network and enable dhcp. It will probably change your ip address and it might help you connect if everyting above didn't help you. Let me know either way.

i can now ftp, but looking at pc content (streaming) is a big no no.

i have read many things, maybe i need to upgrade the xbmc, but woried about messing it up and have a non working xbmc.

i can see workgroup and then my pc name on the smb network on the xobox but it then asks for username and password, no idea tried all sorts.
tried the enable guest account, made an xbox account but still nothing.

eh it's a setting in your network workgroup properties. I remember messing with it for quite a while to get it to work. I'll try to figure it out for you when i get home tonight. I'm sure it's something in your computer though, not the xbox.

easiest way is just make separate user account on your pc for the xbox with the pass xbox.

    Username: xbox
    Password: xbox
