    I tried a Dvd decrypter , Dvd2one

    & copy DvD combo

I want the entire movie intact on 1 disc

(as why I tried DvDx copy platinum till my head hurt) .

& Tutorials all say this is possible.

    All goes smooth until copy2DvD

    goes to burn the DvD

There i`m told the file is over 4.37

    Gigs (it`s 4.47) , & wont fit on disc

which is 4.7 gig memorex DVD-R

Do I want to continue burning

& even if I set copy dvd to required size

& continue anyhow , another error message

pops up saying I need @ least 4.48 gigs of disc space

& it wont fit on my media (memorex DVD-R , 4.7 gigs

    in size) .

I`m banging my head on the monitor by now . What gives

    here .

Please give some much needed & appreciated advice

    Hi kapo13

Here's a little conversion table (copied this from baabaa's older message, thanx)

    1,024 Byte = 1 Kilobyte (KB)
    1,024 Kilobyte (KB) = 1 Megabyte (MB)
    1,073,741,824 Bytes = 1 Gigabyte (GB)
    1 Gigabyte (GB) = 1,024 Megabyte (MB)

So what this means is that when you're DVD says 4.7G, they actually mean 4,700,000,000 bytes, which is actually only 4.38G. So what they do is lie through their teeth....
So when your program sais that 4.47G won't fit the disc, that's true, it won't. What you have to do is set the targeted folder size in DVD2One to 4.37 [bold]GB[/bold] (to be on the safe side) or 4,464 [bold]MB[/bold] (I think in DVD Shrink the value has to be in MB, not GB).

    Hope this solves your problem.

    Thanks Ketale

    I`ll retry that

But I believe DvD2one is default set @

    464 , but I`ll retry

D`ya think the problem is the lying media sales

    or the shrink prog ?

Does DvD shrink allow me to keep entire DvD

all menus/extras intact, then burn in another program ?

kapo I think its the west who refer to the discs as 4.37 gig disc even when you buy them in the uk it says 4.7 gig ......thats because Japan say that the discs are 4.7 gig it is in how they break down

West is 1024 to a gig
    East(Japan) is 1000 to 1 gig

    thats megs by the way

clever media ppl they dont actually lie but I agree they do decieve us

yes DVDShrink will let you keep the menus extras and stuff .....just delete the foreign audio tracks to save you space unless you want them

    Fanx 4 all your advice

    shrink did it :)-

I`m not overly pleased with the quality

But it`s well enough . I copied entire

DvD intact , so I lost some quality

I just had a bright idea that may work ,

so I`ll ask here it it may work

Can I copy main movie uncompressed

to one disc , & go back to those

(DvD decrypted) files in shrink another

time & choose only the extras .

I did this once in DvDxcopy platinum ,

    uncompressed the quality was

awesome , but on extras disc

everything was all over the place ,

I had credits & end splash screen ,

& lots of copyright stuff normally @ end

@ beginning & throughout the disc

But all was there , & it looked bang on

to original DvD , but ya can imagine

it was a pain to sort through .

Platinum , after 1 week of errors ,

finally did 1/2 a split DvD for me , but

    didnt load 2nd portion .

Can I do as I asked , & have control

over how it all copies to disc , in logical

order . As ya know all that menu can

be confusing , & easiest is just to

compress & take it all . But I dont mind

using 2 DvDr`s if I can do as I asked.

If I can how may all this look/work

out in the program ? The guide has

    no instructions on such .

    Cheers :)-

    kapo13,
This step is easy with DVD in re-author mode, and as long as the movie by itself is smaller than 4.38G, no compression is needed. You can also cut the credits from the beginning and the end of the movie to save a few more MBs. (link to the guide below)

If you don't want to use the re-author mode, rip the movie with DVD Decrypter in File-mode with "movie only" selected. If it fits the disc, burn it, if not, open those files with Shrink.

Making a dvd with only the extras is also possible with dvd Shrink in re-author mode, you can try to select all the extra stuff without the movie and make a new combilation of those. This should work, although I've never tried it. You have to check that the combilation still works with PowerDVD or another DVD software player on your computer before burning it.

An excellent guide for using DVD Shrink is found here

    http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php

There you'll find info about how to use the re-author mode in DVD shrink. Hope you'll find what you're looking for there.

    kapo13....just a small suggestion.

Don't hit enter until u start a new paragraph. Just keep typing and it'll wrap automatically. Very hard to read your hunnerd line posts with 4 words per line. Almost as bad as posts with all caps.

I'm a little confused, if the original was 4.47 shrinking to 4.36 (98%) should make no real difference in video quality.
