i got some hp dual layer disks and i would like to burn a backup of my game (Gears of War 2). I burned using clone cd 10 times with prodata disks and they didnt work. I have iextreme 1.61 and none of my prodata burns work. I cant get verbatim disks. Will the hp dual layer disks work?

Depending on your location you can purchase verbatim discs online. I'm betting that it's just a media issue.

amazon.com got a good verbatim store. very cheap prices, works out at about 90 pence (uk) per disc.

@izriz, These are games that are heavily scratched and i have the .iso and the .dvd files.
@NDarkness, prodata is a very bad brand for burning 360 games but im asking if hp dual layer disks would work. im burning using a lg dvd drive which suppourts dual layer. i dont know its model.

You don't NEED verbs. I don't use verbs anymore because I install all my games to the hard drive and don't care if the media isn't that great.

@OP There are a couple possibilities here. If you made your own rip and they don't work then it could be a bad rip. If you downloaded the game, did you run it through ABGX? If you ran it through ABGX and it all checked out then post up a log from imgburn, and that will let us know if you are getting burn errors of if something else could be going on.

You don't need verbatims, they're just reccomended.
Personally i mainly use arita, had no bad burn as of yet and games i burnt 2 years ago still run just fine.

okay, but i think ur missing the point! he or she wants to be able to burn a game successfully, so he/she NEEDS blank dvd+r dl!!!! and he/she also NEEDS verbatim

maybe if he/she doesnt want to burn games anymore and do a jtag then ur point may be more valid

okay!!! but i will say this....
if you have a certain amount of money and want to buy some dvd+r dl's that have a high chance of working and that lots of people on messageboards will agree with.

    GET VERBATIMS

if you want to buy some dvd+r dl's and be pretty sure your not gonna get coasters and give yourself the highest chance of successful burns, get verbatims.

p.s the creator of imgburn (best xbox 360 game burning software) also suggests them

    peace

Yes verbs are the best but other brands work perfectly well.
Arita: i've used these as my main brand, well over a hundred burns with no coasters, games burned 2 years ago still boot up no problem.

Aone plus (not aone): over 50 burns no coasters, games burnt 12 months ago still boot no problem.

So it's not just verbs that work well.

True Verbs are not "needed", but they are the best brand for this job of 360 backups.
    I have 4 Xbox360s:

    * My box #1: Jasper + Lite-On 83850: I Verbs only.
    * My box #2: Xenon JTAG + BenQ: I use any media, simply to copy it to the HDD.
    * Son's Box: Falcon + BenQ: He uses Verbs only.
    * Daughter's Box: Falcon + Lite-On: Ever since her 360 was left in the trunk of the car in the freezing winter, it will NOT read Verbs anymore, but reads ANY cheap meadia (Memorex, Ritek, Sony, Arita, Maxell, Aone, HP, and countless others that she has). Only 3 or 4 bad burns in 2 years with cheap media. I just tested a few of her oldest games (Dead or alive volleyball on Sony & Halo 3 on Memorex) on her box and my NON-JTAG box. They run fine.

My son's BenQ sometimes struggles with his sister's cheaper media. And so does my Lite-On.

Practically all brands work, but Verbs are made with a consistancy that other companies don't follow.

All the Verbs you use are "identical" (unless it was a faulty disc).

You buy 4 25-packs of Memorex and it's possible that all 4 (because they are outsourced), are of different standards, one or more of those packs giving your 360 hell trying to read it. Then you're thinking "I always use this brand, what's the problem?".

The 360 will always read Verbs if burned correctly. I've flashed well over 50 boxes by now, and they're always tested with Verbs. A lot of them failed with cheaper media.

I haven't used verbs in over 3 years. When I first got into modding I used them then everywhere local stopped carrying them so I went to memorex, well over 200 burns without a single coaster. My original gears of war backup I made 3 years ago still works fine and its on a memorex.
