I've used dvd shrink with dvd decrypter for a while, recently I had my burner shipped from home and loaded the two programs onto my girlfriends computer, now when ever I try and use decrypter I get this message:

    I/O Error!

Device: [0:0:0] SONY DVD RW DRU-510A 1.DF(G:) (USB)

    ScsiStatus: 0x02
    Interpretation: Check Condition

    CDB: 2A 00 00 00 08 C0 00 00 20 00
    Interpretation: Write (10)-Sectors: 2240-2271

    Sense Area: F1 00 03 FF FD 00 00 12 00 00 00 00 73 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 9B 02 12 50
    Interpretation: Power Calibration Area Error

can anyone help me figure this out?

Sometimes a Power Calibration Error can be an issue with the drive. More commonly it's associated with the blank media being used.

What type of media are you using? Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Sony are good.

Is the firmware for the burner up-to-date?

On a side note, since neither of those programs are updated anymore, why not upgrade to DvdFab Hd Decrypter to rip, use Shrink as normal, and burn with Dvd Decrypter's update (the burning portion anyway) Imgburn.

Check my sig for links to all the good stuff.

I'm using Memorex DVD-R's which have worked fine for me in the past, and I dont think I'll be upgrading to anything HD just yet, how do I check for these updates?

Typically, these are low quality discs that may burn and play, but all in all produce sketchy results. Try the media i mentioned earlier.

The program rips standard def Dvd's. That's just the difference in title from their payware programs, DvdFab Gold/Platinum. It's updated often, it's freeware, and i can handle any title out there right now. Dvd Decrypter and Dvd Shrink cannot.

I can only assume this is referencing the firmware i mentioned earlier. Since you probably have not downloaded Imgburn; open Dvd Decrypter.

Tools > Drive > Check for firmware update. (make sure you're online.

Post a burn log, but i'm willing to bet it's your media if you haven't upgraded to something better.

yes, I figured out that it was the Memorex DVD-Rs, and a dirty lens. I tried using a different dvd r and its working fine.

    Ta-Dah!

If you want quality burns, quality blank media is not a suggestion, it's a rule.

    Happy burning!
