ok, I dont know if this is the correct area for this, so if not let me know and ill move it. I have a gateway laptop wit a GWA-4082N dvdrw drive. I have been having problems with it not reading some dvds. I dont understand this. Could this be a firmware issue?
Just a little more info please. Has this drive ever read DVD's since you had it? Sorry to ask such a simple question, but if IT has/not then what have you changed software wise or hardware wise since then? What brand AND type of media (discs) are you using? At this stage do-not upgrade the firmware for this drive, as this may confuse the issue. It shouldn't be too difficult to think back as far as changes to the system are concerned. Have you tried "system restore?" Chances could be that recently installed Software(s), are playing havoc with what you have. Here's a tip, delete recent software and run CCleaner in REG mode then re-install after a restart. Any of this help out?
