Sorry for the generic title, but I really didn't know how to explain this particular scenario.

I got a Nero bundle with my Sony DRU-820a burner. I had two very similar discs on two different DVD RWs that I wanted to condense into one DVD RW. So I added the files from the first DVD RW, then added the second, and then clicked "save". Then I -erased- one of the DVD RWs, but when I go to back up this .iso file, it tells me to insert *disc number*. Well...I erased it, I don't HAVE it anymore. Now the thing is, it's still ON my PC, in a folder I labeled "Nero Cache", but ALL the file names were changed. They all start with
    "Ner".

So, short of just burning that entire folder, with ALL the contents renamed, is there a way to burn this to disc, -not- having the original disc I copied it from? As I said, I still have all the contents of the disc. I also have two .iso icons IN that folder, but they're both 900 kbs, not exactly the over three gig size of the DVD.

What's the point of being able to save it before I burn it if I am still going to need the original disc, you know? Gah, this has me frustrated. Well I hope I explained this well enough, and someone here can help me. Thanks for any help.

What are the extensions on the files in the cache? If they are vob, ifo, and bup, you may be OK if you can sort them out. Do you have a software DVD player that will play DVD files in a folder? Most will. You should be able to tell if those file in the cache are the ones you want by playing them.

The important lesson here is to not delete anything until you're sure you have what you want. Media is cheap. We've all been there unfortunately.

I think when you clicked save you saved the project not the data on the disk. Did Nero rip this to your hard disk? It would have taken a few minutes.

Yeah, it did rip it to the hard drive. All the file extensions are the original extensions, IE : .html, .wmv etc., but ALL the names were changed. I can still view the videos, pics, open the IE shortcuts and everything, but like I said, nothing has the original name I gave it.

In that case, copy what you want out of the cache into a new folder. Then rename everything to what it is or whatever you want. Then burn to your disk.

lol, it's 3.02 gig, and 6,747 various file types. So giving them back their original names isn't really an option.
