Help! External hard drive

    Help me please! I have a 320gb Seagate external hard drive. Of of a sudden, when I go to access it in my computer it tells me the drive isn't formatted and asks if I want to format it. How can I retrieve my data? I have things I need on it. This once happened to my stick drive.

    That can happen if the external is "removed" from the computer, improperly.

    I don't know if it is possible to retrieve your data, even if you can remove it from the case, and install it internally in your computer.

    You will need to use some data recovery software as the file system has become corrupted.
