Hi babygpep Here's a link for the latest firmware - version TU56 & a modified region free firmware. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1971 The rpc comes into play if you are playing dvd's with another region code. Your drive usually allows 4 changes to the region code (besides the intial region setting). If you running AnyDVD in the background it will remove the region code too.
Hello Binkie7 I reflashed. The drive plays original movie. But back-up looks blank. The drive does attemp to read but it say's no disc in drive e: I followed these directions. Windows XP: > 'Start' -> 'Run' -> Type 'MSINFO32' > Click 'Components' -> 'CD' > Wait for System Info to refresh. > Here are the registry settings for all CD/DVD devices installed. > The 'PNP device ID' lists the Drives model number, a long underscore and > then the F/W. > The column may need expanding to view the 4 digit number after the long > underscore. > You will also notice a transfer rate entry. > The value shown here is dependent on the media inserted in the drive at the >time of refresh. Do you know what my problem is? help please. babygpep

Hi babygpep So the problem is your drive (toshiba) doesn't play the backups? Do they play in the other drive (sony) or any dvd players? What media (brand of discs) did you use and what was the burn speed? Also are these backups from the same region you are in? Like region 1. (asking cause your 1st post you brought up rpc2). edit: spelling
Hello Blinkie7 It doesn't play back-ups on the Sony or the Toshiba. Disc brand label say's - 8X E63 R412 3 2 A 0605211127-506 Back-up speed 4xx Movie's are Region 1 The any dvd says at start up the dvd is in RPC2. Can you help me please? babygpep
Ok you drive still has the TU55 firmwaare. So the flash didn't take. Reboot after you flash the drive. Here's another link for the firmware - TU56: http://www.toshiba-europe.com/storage/pdl.asp?page=PFW&ptype=DVDRECHH&nav=RSC_PDL&model=SDR5372 What brand of discs are they - like Verbatim, Sony etc. AnyDVD removes any region codes - making dvd playable if in a different one - so you're okay there. Since these are backup's the region code has probably been removed since you're using AnyDVD.
