I cant seem to dump my orig.bin. Ive followed the tutorial and am using the correct port for my via card. yet I get this error msg "2nd argument [port] wrong! file not found". Im using a via 6421 pci card(with via drivers installed in winxp) , ck3 connectivity kit. Any ideas what Im doing wrong?

Im using the mod disc thats on xbins, I believe its fairly new, the tutorial comes with it , its a step by step thing, seems pretty easy except for this hiccup.

yeah you miss understand. Your PCI card is SATA and when you use the mod disc its all hexidecimal like my port is E800. I found that out by going into Jungleflasher going to the mtkflasher and checking the ports each one tells you what exactly it is. I know that SATA card carries two ports so you have to figure out which one it is.

Just plug it into the other port on the card and then type the same port you were already typing. it is probably just plugged into the wrong one. On my sata card it is the port towards the front of the PC. I had the same problem one time using the disc and that is what it turned out to be was i had it in the wrong port physically but i had looked up the correct port#(using the tut on the disc) in the system for the first port on the card.

ok, heres the scoop, I looked at my via card and theres 2 sata ports one inside the case (the one Ive been using) and one that is available on the back of the computer (although my sata cord will not plug into it) so I only have the one I can use. I tried jungle flasher to check my ports theres CD00, CF00 and CE00 that show for my via card, I tried them all and I get the same error, mtk flash failed if you want to resend till the drive responds press Y, I tried that and it just sits there forever so not sure what I should do. My mobo has a via chipset should I try one of my onboard sata ports?

why not just use jungle flasher to flash it anyways? You could have been done with it before you were done posting your original question.

when flashing with jungle flasher do you need to boot with a usb thumbstick (iprep) cause I could never get my comp to boot with usb. or is jungle flasher able to flash without reboot. and stealthdf Im going to try again with turning it off and on, I did that with the first port I tried but not with the others

It should instruct you to do that with the on screen directions it gives. Just follow what it says and if you have the correct port plugged in and identified with the correct number it should work. I have never had any problems. When you turn it off then on wait like 5 seconds before turning it on after it is turned off. I found that if turned off then on too quicklt it would not work.

JF is done within windows, no booting from usb or rebooting is done. just a simple 4 or 5 clicks and its done.
