Help for newbie with Nero

When I try to burn a mpg file Nero tells me "no compatible file found"
when I then try to convert through DivX to Dvd I get the message "Exception during conversion .Output may not be available"

any Ideas please

run your file through avicodec and post the results in your next reply

 

Downloaded avicodec eventually and try to run the file through it but now getting message Opening error cannot play back the file the format is not supported

either the file is a dud or you dont have the right codec installed to run the file
