Yep, I'm thinking about getting a new graphic card. My computer isn't all that great, I'm just a poor teenager thats jus experimenting before i build my own computer. so I was wondering if any of you guys can help me out. Ok, my computer needs a AGP 8x graphics card w/e that means. Heres my motherboard specifications if it will help i didn't do anything to the computer such as upgrading ram n all that its a original =) Motherboard specifications http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...2_USEN&dlc=en&docname=c00022505#c00022505_doc i was thinking about getting a 128 graphics card shown here ( Diamond S120 Radeon 9550) http://www.diamondmm.com/S120AGP128.php and i was wondering if this graphic card is compatible with my computer and i was wondering if i get a cheap 256mb card would i still get better performance then the Diamond S120 Radeon 9550 i posted above? i play games like CS, call of duty 2, need for speed most wanted i also on a really tight budget......around 50-60 bucks ,since imma buy a stick of 512 ram which costs around 50 bucks also, i realize this will be a crappy graphic card but anything will do better then the 64 mb i have now....any help is appreciated =)
so wait you have 50 dollars to spend on a card or 10 dollars? If only 10 dollars I would suggest bugging your parents about doing oddjobs around the house for cash, or bugging people around your neighborhood. 50 dollars would probably get you a Radeon 9700...which would be semi-fine for games like Call of Duty 2...
well...i have around 50 to 60 dollars..lol my parents don't gimme money period =/. i don't want a really sexy graphic card..jus a ok one to play around with. make some things smoother..smoke, water, etc. jus enough not to lag like hell wen it pops up
Well like I said, the Radeon 9700 is pretty good for the price. Check around www.pricewatch.com for one but make sure you pick from a company with good feedback/ratings. You could go with a lower model but alot of new game low end specs that I've seen are the 9500/96/9700 radeon. Oh you know what ebay is a good place to find stuff too. just make sure you don't get suckered into buying a really used card or a broken one.
okay, thanks, im such a noob wen it comes to computers. =) o yeah which one would be better. a 128 one for 50 dollars or a 256 for 50 dollars, i believe wen its bigger doesn't mean it gives better performance. is this true? oh yeah u think the Radeon i posted above is a pretty decent one? and is it compatible with my PC? im looking around for a Radeon 9700 and most of them are like over my price range >_<
More is better to a certain extent, as far as 128MB to 256MB if you can get the 256MB one for the same price then get it. I saw some 9700's for 20-40 bucks on ebay. You could always drop down a notch and get a 9500 or 9600 if you can't find a cheap enough 9700.
