Hello i am on a friends computer,my computer will not let me on the net.I think i am being bombarded by spyware,i ran spybot and it says everything is clean,i also ran a virus scan it says its ok .When i look at peerguardian (block lists) all it shows is like a thousand hits from spyware blocker lists,i think its trying to get in the computer so the connection is being stopped (thats what firefox says)"the site is not allowing you to access it"Can anyone help me ..please
You have 2 options: 1 - Doctor up your system; try to go in and delete/quarantine files that are causing your problems (Practical) 2 - Reformat your HDD. 1 - Download a quality spyware detection program and run a full system scan. I recommend Ad-Aware, here is the link: http://www.filepedia.com/desktop_software/desktop_security/ad-aware.cfm. In the past I have had spyware interfere with my internet connection and my resolution was that program. I held it close eversince. 2 - Reformatting, well I think you know what that means. GO for number one...if it doesn't resolve, post here again. NOTE: You said you ran a virus scan and all is o.k. That's good but remember, VIRUS & SPYWARE are totally different so you're partially out of the woods.
Before using any of the anti spyware apps listed below, download LSP- Fix. Some malware infest your winsock, which gives you internet connection. If malware has infested your winsock, and if you remove the malware that was attached to your winsock improperly, you will sever your internet connection. Should I download all of these except maybe Hijackthis(because its a little moe tricky)and run them all just to be safe? After i run them and clean up the computer should i go back then and delete them so they all don't start up when i turn the computer on and slow it down, thanks again great websites.
You can use WinPatrol to disable the ones you don't plan on using a lot. Keep some of the ones that work well. It might slow down your comp a bit, but it's safer to surf the net w/out having to worry about getting infected again. just a little trade-off for being protected, if you want to see it that way...
True..thanks. Ohh that file you wanted me to download first,i read up on it and it was talking about a dial up connection..does it matter (i have dsl)I downloaded it anyway (did you mean just have it on your computer just incase the stuff i take off is attached to the internet chain, and it disables the internet? Then go back and use it?
Pretty much...LSP-Fix is there to help you in case programs such as Spyware Doctor, Spybot, Ad-Aware improperly remove malware such as [bold]New.Net[/bold], [bold]Webhancer[/bold], etc....detects it and removes it, it could very well sever your internet connection... hope this clears it up....
