I have repaired an old Dell Inspiron 600m, new hard drive, ram, cmos battery, and OS. The problem is I would REALLY like to update the BIOS, but it WILL NOT allow me to run the update without the laptop battery. Dell had a recall on the battery and I traded it for cash about 2 years ago. Is there any way of getting around this, or am I gonna have to buy a battery??? Any help would be appreciated.

Try running the exe with the /? or /help switches, there may be a switch to turn off or ignore the battery check. You might also be able to find a 100% dead battery for it; the battery check usualy does not care if the battery has no power in it.

No luck, I guess I'll need a battery eventually anyway. Thanks for the help though.
