HELP!!!!!!! HOW-TO

Just wanted to know how to update the kernel on my xbox my kernel version is 4817 and dashboard version is 5960.. Here is my problem i tried to install the ndure softmod on my xbox didn't work i thought it was my version of mechassault so i bought 2 more mechassault from blockbuster still didnt work so i thought that my xbox was cursed theni tried it on my friends xbox and worked like a charm his kernel version is 5101 with the dashboard 5960.....I dont know if the kernel makes a difference but it dont work on mine Pls!! Help

 

Kernel shouldn't matter...what Error was the softmod installation giving you and are you using SID 4 or above?

 

Its saying cant run linux game save (im Using Mechassault with Sid 4.0 Ndure)and the difficulty and stuff like that are all unknown and i used My memorycard and my mechassault for my friends xbox and worked fine and went to try it on mines no luck.......If anyone has this same problem let me know post ur kernel version

 

well mine is 5101.01 i dont know why you have the 5960 dash and the older kernel....save a game that has xbox live onto your xbox it should update the kernel..

 

Any game like Mechassault do i have to sign up for xobxlive or do i just save a game....

 

do you have any newer games like halo 2??

 

yeah why what can i do with it....

 

usually that will update your Dash and Kernel.....

 

I did that with mechassault it only upgrades the the dash na dnot the kernel

 

try using halo 2....

You should be able to update without it.

 

It updated but just the dashboard the kernel is still the old 4817 one......
