And I am not sure why not. I was able to do it before, I have not changed one thing. And all of the sudden it gets to about 4% and stops. I have updated my drivers for my burner (after reading that it's a common cause for this problem). Didn't help. I am able to burn pictures and music but not DVDs. Hello MonikaM. I'm a little confused about the steps you're taking. Are you backing up DVDs? Are you using DVD Shrink or Nero Recode at all? A typical process for backing up the main title (i.e. movie) to a single layer DVD5 would be as follows: AnyDVD is installed and active. Run DVD Shrink and open disk to be backed up. In Re-author mode, select the main title Click the Backup button Select either Create an iso file and burn with DVD Decrypter or Burn with Nero. Is this what you're doing? There can be variations of course to the above. Can you be more explicit as to exactly what you're doing step by step. If you're just using the Nero Copy Disk function, that may be the problem if your trying to backup copy protected disks.
What I have done is: 1) I run DVD Decrypter and decrypt the movie to my hard drive, I open Nero and burn the movie from my hard drive onto a new DVD. This has worked before many times. Now all of the sudden it doesn't. I have also tried it with AnyDVD. 2) I have AnyDVD running in the background and run Nero. This also worked before. Most of the time I go with option 1.
What version of Nero are you running. Nero 7 created many problems for me except it would be about 95% completed and then fail, wasted numerous DVDs. I uninstalled 7 and re installed 6.6.0.14 and everything went back to running right. Since then I've discovered DVDfab, I may suggest to you as well as it does the same thing in roughly 40 min start to finish Check your version
MonikaM, I'm guessing the problem is either with Nero or the particular media you're using. I use Nero 6.6.0.18 whcih is the last really stable version of Nero. I don't use Nero 7 at all. Are you only copying single layer disks because the Ritek G05 media code is for a SL disk. There is no way a commercial DVD which is usually a dual layer DVD9 is going to fit on a SL DVD5 disk. The Nero log you provided is for a Copy Entire Disk procedure. If you're burning a folder of video files ripped with DVD Decrypter, the Nero project would be DVD-Video Files. If you ripped an ISO image file with Decrypter, the Nero project would be Disk Image or Saved Project. Try this: 1.Start DVD Decrypter and make sure the burn speed is set to 4X. 2. Make sure AnyDVD is running and the Fox icon on the Task Bar is red. 3. Insert the DVD to be backed up into the DVD drive. 4. Open DVD Shrink. 5. Select Preferences... under the Edit menu. 6. Click the "Preferences" tab. 7. Select "Custom" from the dropdown menu for Target dvd size. 8. Enter 4350 into the MB box and click OK. 9. Click the Open Disk icon (Shrink will analyze). 10. When Shrink finishes the anlysis, click the Re-Author icon. 11. Drag the title under the heading "Main Movie" on the righthand side to the left hand side under "DVD Structure". 12. Click the Backup! icon. 13. Under the Select Backup Target menu select "ISO Image File and burn with DVD Decrypter". There's a link to DVD Shrink in my signature below if you don't have it.
Yes I am using the new Nero that just came out. Any idea where I could download an older version? Thank you so much for all the advice. I will try using DVD Shrink to make an ISO image and burn that with DVD Decrypter. I hope that will work. But I ran out of DVDRs! I think I wasted 10 of them trying to figure out what's wrong.
Nero 7 works just fine! You just need version 7.08.02, which you can get from http://filehippo.com/ click on 7.2.0.3b and then selext 7.08.02 which is bug free. You will need to uninstall your nero first and run this clean tool to remove all traces of nero http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html
