hi, i have this old joystick (flight-stick), i tried to connecting it to my PC but there is no where for it to plug into. The connector;/plug what ever its called on my joystick has 15 pins. 7 on top and 8 on bottom. Behind the pins it is blue coloured. Please help me, i have a DELL 4600 computer. on my old pentium 2 computer there was a socket for it but on my new dell 4600 there is no 15 pin socket for it. is there any way to connect it.

that would be great if u can help. thanks alot in advance

I got the same problem pronblem...my older joystick wont go in anywhere on my new comp. They are NOT serial ports. They are called Gameports and MIDI/Joystick Ports. If you want one...get a cheap sound card with a MIDI port(its yellow and pretty much all soundcards have it)and then connect your joystick to that. Thats all you need. Serial ports only have 9 pins total...dont get that.

    Cheap soundcard with MIDI Port=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829117104

he said his had 15 pins which would make it a db15 connector not the db9 that u are talking about

My computer has a serial port. The joystick connector does not fit on the serial port. Simple as that. He needs a MIDI/Joystick Port.

serial ports have either 9pin males or 25 pin males on older computers. game ports are 15pin females- 8 on 1 row & 7 on the 2nd row. some of the newer p4 boards have the gameport attachement but need the cable from motherboard to either front of case or back of case.

the link to the device i gave is for older joysticks it wont even work with midi devices he said he had an old joystick so i figured this is what he needed

USB Type A Male to Joystick Box DB15 Female.
Converts USB to a joystick port to hook up external Joysticks.
Has Switch for different joystick types.
    M2: CH Flightstick Pro Compatible

i have this old joystick (flight-stick)

ecknight, that link will work with his joystick & you just misnamed the game/midi port as serial, thats all. teach & learn.

*agent47* do you have onboard sound on your computer & if so, no game port correct?? if correct than you probably do have the connection but missing the cable from the motherboard to the case back or front.

Yeah cause its probably INTEGRATED audio. If you didn't buy a sound card seperately, don't expect to have a Joystick/MIDI port.
