Sometimes my monitor just get red lines across the screen and i dont think its the graphics card because they arent digitized blocks i have a samsung SyncMaster 793mb monitor and an nvidia geforce 6600gt video card
It can only be one of the three things you're using. The card the cable or the screen. You need to use a process of elimination to determine the cause and then look at the remedy. Easiest is the cable to change over. If you have another monitor try that. Problem is, it could be anything until you've at least proven where the fault lies.
i was gettting something similar and it turned out to be a soft modded driver for the graphics card that was causing it, as when I rolled back the driver the problem stabalised (for a while before the card went to the wall!).
If it is the actual card thats the problem, then its either hardware or software as said above. You download the latest forceware drivers for the card and load them.Version: 84.21 is the latest. XP download is here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_84.21.html
AvsFan, it's the CRT - I too have the 793mb and began getting the red lines a few weeks ago. I knew it could have been the monitor, but I was also worried about my graphics card. I should have done a Google search when I first experienced the problem, but at least now we both can rest easy.
Definately the CRT. I have the same model but a different graphics card and I'll sometimes see the red lines. I'm glad it is not my graphics card though.
