I have Nero 6 and everything worked fine before i updated my drive. I just updated so that it can be more compatible and less likely to have failed disk writes. This is my first time updating it. I got the update from the manufacturers website: http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=153. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I think once I have updated it i cant make it go back to the previous firmware? I just bought a 50 pack dvd-r and really want to fix this so that i can burn again. thanks. The error shows right after caching, it doesn't even start burning. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but these are horrible discs and more than likely will be the cause of the error....you may find a few good ones in the spindle of 50 you have but then on the other hand you may be lucky and find quite a few good ones....they are very hit and miss.
Oh that one was the HP DVD-R, I also tried Verbatim DVD-R MIT and the error still comes up. I dont think its the dvd-r disks that causing it. i think the firmware messed it up but i dont know how to fix it.
Set you burner drive as a master instead of a slave. If it doesn't fix it, go back to an older firmware.
I put it on master but it still says the same illegal disk error. How do I go back to an older firmware? Here's the log after putting it on masters and using Verbatim DVD-R: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 6:35:34 PM Nero Version: 6.6.0.16 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 16b (Nero Express) Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1213S>Version: TS0J - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.16 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <SCSIVAX DVD/CD-ROM >Version: 2.7a - HA 2 TA 0 - 6.6.0.16 Adapter driver: <Vax347s> HA 2 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : ST360012A atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1213S atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SCSIVAX DVD/CD-ROM 2.7a Vax347s Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1213S D: CDRom3 SCSIVAX DVD/CD-ROM F: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 39845888 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 246MB (252908kB) Free physical memory: 56MB (57424kB) Memory in use : 77 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 25.1.2008 ISO compilation 3:39:13 PM #1 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6356 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet : TRUE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : TRUE Allow more than 255 characters in path : TRUE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 3:39:13 PM #2 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 3:39:13 PM #3 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1213S running 3:39:13 PM #4 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 3:39:13 PM #5 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3233 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 3:39:14 PM #6 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 270 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 2225167 (494:28.67, 4346MB) 3:39:14 PM #7 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 282 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 3:39:14 PM #8 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2483 Recorder: LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1213S, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: MCC 03 - RG20 Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193 3:39:14 PM #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 448 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 3:39:14 PM #10 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 838 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2225168 (2225168) = #2225168/494:28.68 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2225168 blocks [LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1213S] -------------------------------------------------------------- 3:39:14 PM #11 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1051 Prepare recorder [LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1213S] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00;
