Hello...I'm a little confused on whether I need a dvd burner or just the software. What I want to do is burn dvd movies...like just make a copy...but everyone is telling me about the copyright codes...can anyone tell me if I need the dvd burner or just the software...if it's just the software...what one do I need? Thanks for any help:)

Q: You want copy a DVD -or- make your own from video you shot or recorded?

In either case you will need a burner

Best Burner? Everyone thinks their burner is the best burner. :) I'd suggest a burner that is +RW or Dual Format (+RW and -RW).

Software? Same story. I live by DVD Shrink and Nero 99% of the time. DVD Decrypter the other 1%.

    good luck

The easiest that i have found is dvd clone (but you will need another program called Anydvd to run in the background at the same time).Other simple programs include 321 studios dvdx copy series.I have tried the xpress version but found it to be only an average tool but there platinum version is excellent. The price is $300 australian dollars but the quality is superb.

Thanks for your replys...I guess I have to get a dvd burner...now most of them come with the software I'll need...at least that's what I'm told. It just has to be able to override the copyright stuff right? Thanks again:)

i got nero 6 with my dvd burner but if you go to the software tab at the top of this page you will find a trial version of both dvdx copy xpress and clone dvd.
The other program Anydvd is also available here(this is the one that will bypass the css code but runs in the background when using clone dvd)

It is always better to try a trial version and then purchase it if you are confident that it fits your needs

you got it in a nutshell thats about it but you can also use these dvd programs to work with the movies you make yourself .The other thing you may want to look are the guides. They are very informative and not very hard to follow.

goodluck and dont be discouraged if the 1st couple turn out to be coasters.

Sure! I have a full version of Nero 6.3.x. Also have a serial number, it came via email and voice when I paid for Nero.

fwiw - pirateware is a tabu topic in these forums.
