Help I have been infected by Wind32.Adware.Virtumonde. Sounds easy for others to remove but for me it's not.

    System:
    Pentium III
    RAM 128mb
    731 MHz
    OS=Windows XP Servise pack 2

Hard to install other antivirus. Like Kasperksy,Norton,Panda, McAfee etc. Only NOD32 Antivirus is working. No other antivirus installed.

You cannot reformat because there is no CD-rom
ESET Antivirus cannot clean completely the virus.
    No backups
    I cannot use system restore.
    HELP!

im not 100% sure mate but i think http://www.freewarefiles.com/ have a security tool by norton that you can download and it should remove this and then follow the links and it will update your system after removal. its only a 300kb download and its quick at scanning. i also have spybot s&d on my pc and it found the same virus on my pc and got rid of it. good luck.

I didn't think that Norton's security tool was that big. If you have access to another computer dl http://www.avast.com/ antivirus home addition and it's free. It will ask you if you want to do a system scan on your next re-start and click yes. Option 2 is re-boot in the safe mode with the networking option and go to http://www.pctuneuppros.com/ Good luck Pal, Rev

yeh good call rev i forgot you can do a boot scan with avast. i think at freeware you can download the avast tool aswell which will scan your pc. the other option edmund would be to download the avira tool for scanning. it has the best detection rate of most av programs but revs right about the size of the norton tool, its only a 300kb download and shouldnt use much space. remember its the norton tool not the full program.

    Hi edmund 085.

No, I don't necessarily think that the vundo/virtumonde removal tool from symantec will do the trick. I think that you should try Vundofix and Virtumundebegone. Google those, and then download them.

However, you mentioned that you have Nod32. I will require you to boot in safe mode, then scan with Nod32. Remove all infections of virtumunde that NOD32 finds.

If all that doesn't work, try downloading A-squared Free, and then scanning with it in safe mode.

Also, please post a hijackthis log here.

    Best Regards :D
