help im just starting

ok first off i got a slimline ps2
this is waht i want to do
i want to be able to play backups/copies of my ps2 and ps1 games
so what do i need to do this?

 

swap magic or a mod chip to start off.then a dvd burner ,good meadia (sony)and dvd decrypter . and then your set ))))

With alcohol 120% or dvd decrypter.

You'll also need a flip - top or a flip card...

i got a slimline they have flip top covers

 

you need an aftermarket flip top or a set of magic keys with a slimline version. The stock one resets when you open it meaning you can not swap discs.

If you could use the flip top that it came with no one would bother to make them on the aftermarket.

Unless of course you are smart and get a good mod chip installed. Then no extra equipment or swap discs are needed.

 

ok first off how hard are mod chips to put in? i can get the equipment and some experienced help from my teacher cause im in a college computer class

secondly is there a way to like make your own magic keys i read some where u can just use like piece of folded up paper and a paper clip

 

yes, there is a tape and tissue mod. You can google it.
But that is just being WAY to cheap. the best thing to do
if you plan to use Swap Magic is to just buy the package deal that also has the magic keys. Make sure they are the correct one for
the version PS2 that you have.

For someone with soldering experience i would say that it may be a little hard to do a mod chip the first time around, just getting use to where the wires go and how to run them.

But a good mod chip (DMS4 Pro SE, Crystal Chip V2.0, Matrix Infinity)
will beat Swap Magic hands down as far as what it can do and easy of use. Swap Magic will work but is just a pain in my opiniion.
A modchip is simple, stick in your back up and play, just like an original.
And each mod chip will need to be flashed with firmware before it will work. These are free downloads on the net. And each may have it's own unique features so do your research first.
All of them will do 90% of the same things, with about 10% being a feature that may be unique to just that chip.
