I downloaded firmware Version 1.04 from this site, for my DVD burner. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1930 It is on my computer, but my latest error log said I still have Version 1.01. The installation instructions said: - copy files to floppy - boot in DOS-mode - launch GCAFSCDN.EXE My laptop doesn't have a floppy drive, and I am using Windows XP. How can I install this firmware upgrade? If I double click the GCAFSCDN.EXE file, it goes into DOS-mode but then I get this error. Any help appreciated!

Originally, I tried the Fujitsu-Siemens OEM drives where I got the error in my first post. Then I did the Dell one, and it says [bold]The version of the LGE file does not match one of the drive.[/bold] I'm not sure where else I can go to get a firmware upgrade. :/
You could burn a bootable CD with just DOS on it, or use some type of external drive. You could find info on the web about how to do a bootable CD and add the file to it. Nero Burning ROM has some options for burning a bootable CD, and if you can download an image file you should be able t use it. Check this site, which I just found or look at others you choose. On some sites that offer Firmware, there are windows and non-windows versions of the firmware update utility. (I can't vouch for the site.) http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd
