    Hiya, after N*L had their fun during the footie yesterday I put in the new codes for the second time and was back online but I was missing about 10 channels. I tried rescanning it to find them again but to no avail. So I went and did a factory reset and now all I can get is 34 very crappy channels ( Bloomberg, CNN, piss....)

    Any ideas of what to to? Im a newbie at flashing firmware, can someone explain how its done/what kind of wire I need to connect to a PC

    Its a Starview, Im in Dublin, EMU is on, N*L is selected, codes are correct.....

    Look at the vents on top of the box, and see which of these matches;

    First Generation = 13 x 7 rows of vents
    Genuine = 25 x 7 rows of vents
    Clone = 18 x 7 rows of vents

    If you do have a clone, do not attempt to put anything other than 2.57eE_FIXED firmware on to it or you could kill your starview.

    DO NOT attempt to flash your clone box with the cryptstar-v14-genuine.zip file ... you will end up with a non-functioning box. Use 2.57eE_FIXED firmware on to it instead.

    Go buy yourself a NULL modem cable from your local Maplins.

    You require the following files (see above for clone files needed) from http://eko.4shared.com ...

    CryptStar-v14-GenuineOnly.zip (For GENUINE boxes only)
    GTRom_v400.rar (for both clone and genuine boxes in the starview/software folder)

    Extract the files using winrar (www.rarlabs.com) and continue below ...

    UPLOADING SOFTWARE TUTORIAL

    1. Plug Starview in at the mains;
    2. Plug in null modem cable and join up box with PC using COM port on PC (there is only one socket for this on the Starview you cant go wrong);
    3. Open up GTRom loader.
    4. Click on "BIN File" on GTRom and load the Auto update BIN File file that you have downloaded
    5. Now click download button and you will see the file being downloaded.
    6. Once complete a message will appear saying something like "download successful".
    7. Plug box in and press Menu on remote, select Installation, choose your cable provider, then move down to automatic scan and press OK.
    8. Once all channels have been found press exit back to TV screen.
    9. Now press menu. Press INFO then type in the number 1570. A new menu will appear. Move down to Key Emu and change option to ON. Press OK, then exit back to TV Screen.
    10. Go to scrambled channel (Sky Sports is recommended) and wait on keys updating.

    Job done!

    There no need to rescan or factory setting if the codes change

    You can try this method to get ALL your channels back as you seem to be missing transponders when scanning

    Menu > Factory Setting
    PIN 0000
    OK to delete

    Turn box off at the back for a minute and turn back on

    English > Installation
    Choose Provider etc
    Automatic Scan
    Press OK
    175 Channels found
    Exit

    Press Menu then 1570
    Turn EMU key ON

    Exit , exit , exit

    Thanks lads for the help. I tried re-scanning it late last night and I got 117 channels back out of the usual 134. Only problem now is Im missing Sky Sports 1 & 2 as well as More 4 ( my flatmates favourite channel- she loves her property porn ! )Is there any way of finding out the frequencies for these 3 channels and entering them in on a manual scan? If so is there a website that gives out frequencies?

    Thanks again lads - I went with Celtic71's suggestion of installing it again and turning it off and on- it was the quickest option and it worked beautifully- Ive now got 156 channels instead of the usual 134, lovely stuff.

    Only problem now is Im going to have to spend the next 40 minutes organising them into the sequence I want:-(

    Once again thanks for the help
