    hi guys,

has anyone had their games directory suddenly blanking? i bought my ds lite on ebay a few months ago which came with a card that had over twenty games on it. when i turned it on this morning though, the directory was blank and number next to 'games' was 0. i've tried ejecting the card, blowing in the slot, charging it, leaving it off for a while but nothing seems to be working. is this a temporary glitch or do i need to download the games again? i don't know where the original seller got them from - i'm assuming online. not sure either how to go about doing this...i've got a mac with no slot to put the card in (will i need an adapter?)

    thnx,
    a frazzled gameplayer

It sounds like you got one of those chinese 'multicards' that come preloaded with a bunch of game roms and no way to swap any on or off. You could try to track down a USB to DS cart adapter, but there's no guarantee that that would let you access the card from your computer. And even if it did work, it's likely that the reason it stopped working in the first place is because some part of the flash memory went bad.

Your best bet is just getting a new card. Go for either the cycloDS or the M3 Real for a DS lite. If you're thinking about upgrading to a DSi at some point (though with the 3DS coming out I cant imagine why you would upgrade now) then get either an Acekard 2i or an M3i Zero. You'll need a microSD to go with any of them as well. Sandisk is usually recommended, and look for a class6 speed or higher. If you get a slower one then some games will stutter or crash.
