Last night I charged my Ipod, this morning there was atill a DO NOT DISCONNEST screen. So I reset it. When the screen came up again all my songs were gone. So I restored the ipod. Now it won't even regester in my itunes screen. So I can't put my music back on it. I re installed itunes. Re booted the computer. What do I do? Thanks -Chubbs
I'm assuming you connected via your computer? If the 'Do Not Disconnect' screen is showing then you need to open iTunes and eject the iPod [click the arrow thing next to your iPod] This screen means that you have disk mode enabled. But to get around to actually fixing your iPod, is it visible in My Computer when it is connected to your computer? If not try forcing it into disk mode. Reset your iPod by holding menu and center, then when the Apple logo appears hold down center and play. This should force the iPod into disk mode which should allow the iPod Updater to see your iPod and reinstall the firmware. Hopefully fixing your problem. Also try using a USB port on the back of your computer, sometimes the connections to USB ports in the front arn't very good and can corrupt data that passes through it.
My Ipod has gone to DISK MODE but still says DO NOT DISCONNECT. The problem is in ITUNES there is no ipod icon to eject. Any other suggestions? -CHubbs
Settle down, I answered what I thought was your question. Apparently it wasn't. Generally iTunes should recognize your iPod, you can try restarting the application. Is your iPod viewable in My Computer? If iTunes doesn't see your iPod it is probably safe to disconnect, as long as there isn't any information being transfered to or from the iPod. It should then take a few seconds to revert back to a normal iPod state. If your iPod is recognized in My Computer, then you should be able to reinstall the firmware on the iPod. One of those should fix your iPod.
Yeah MY COMPUTER is NOT seeing my ipod. I've restarted the itunes and restarted my computer several times. I am clueless. ARGH!!! If you have any more advice I'll try anything, I love that lil guy. -CHubbs
So the problem is with your iPod like I original thought and then you got upset with me for not understanding. Try this part:

It sounds like a case of your hard drive being broken. There isn't any way to fix this yourself really, but if you're still under warranty you can bring it back to Apple and as long as there arn't any signs of abuse they should replace it for you without any problems.
ok thanks i can here a clicking sound from the harddrive so it must be busted and my warrantys fineshed but thankz for ya help
WAIT! I had this exact same problem, and this is what I did to fix it... I downloaded the HP Disk Storage Format Tool (I cant seem to find the link, but i have to rush right now because i hav to go somewhere) once downloaded, plug your iPod in and put it into disk mode open up the program select FAT32 under "file system" and then press "format" This will take a while(took me about 45min) but once it's done, open up the ipod updater and click "restore" and your iPod will be retored back to factory settings. Hope it works and good luck
here is that hp formating tool http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/serveroptions/us/download/23839.html...i have used it many of times and works well.....i have read somewere that if u voided you warrenty by say putting linux on it it erases memory of that ...can some one confirm that for me by posting
